It's a decent story about how a seemingly routine "planet crack" goes awry when a "marker" is found on the planet being excavated. These are free downloads and even if you don't purchase Downfall, I strongly recommend downloading the comic series.ĭownfall takes place in the space between the animated comics and the game. They come in the form of animated comics released an "issue" at a time on both XBL and PSN. It gets the job done, not a classic by any means but good enough and I'm not sure if it gains anything by opting for Blu Ray over DVD - I give it a B+.įor those of you who aren't aware, there's significant story arcs precluding the Dead Space game. I've seen a few criticisims of the animation quality on other reviews, its certainly not Pixar quality but its adequate for the task and I think that you can say the same about the film as a whole. I reckon it might be down to the animators for the film mis-interperating the descriptions of the mining tools that your game character uses. There is also an inconsistency with the weaponry used in the film compared to the game - I don't this this is simply an equipment difference between the two ships. I would warn anyone thinking about getting this if you haven't played the game, there is a major plot spolier that is casually revealed during the film that you don't find out until about 75% of the way through the game. In saying this though, you can work out the details for yourself if you apply a little bit of brain power and listen/watch out for the clues in the game provided by the audio and video logs. I bought this to fill in the back story of events that happen before the game begins and it does just that.
